Entrepreneur Development: #4 Top 10 Principles of Being a Successful Entrepreneur

Top 10 Principles of being a Successful Entrepreneur

By Hussien Jabai

Last article of the Entrepreneur Development series discussed how to utilize social media to promote your services as an entrepreneur. This article of the series will be discussing my personal top 10 principles of being a successful entrepreneur that everyone listening should master or at least be aware of. The following will list and discuss those 10 aspects that you better become familiar with:

Time Management
Just because you own your own business, doesn't mean you don't wake up freaking early and go to bed after every one else. Yes, you get the privilege to manipulate your schedule based on priorities and circumstances, but you have to be able to manage and program a lot of your time around building up your business in some form or fashion. End of story.

Endless Ambition
Most individuals strive when they hit rock bottom. You are at your breaking point, so you become hungry as hell right? Well shit, why aren't you fighting like that day in and day out? You should always have that spark of ambition lit under your ass continuously and always chase after the dreams and goals you have set for yourself.

Balance Health, Fitness, & Sleep
So you want to be an entrepreneur in which you devote your soul to becoming rich af right? Wrong. First off, if you are only worried about money then you are in it for the wrong reason and need to change your focus and priorities. Second, you can't be such a slave to your work that you don't take the time to improve your physical, mental, and emotional health. Make sure to take time to work on your diet, hit the gym atleast 3-4 times a week (or home workouts), and make sure to get plenty of sleep. The better you feel, the better the work output. The more rest you get, the more energy and focus you have. End of story.

Lonely Road
Being an entrepreneur means long nights (or even all nighters) working on projects, upcoming promotions, or organizing events. You won't have much time to devote to going out and socializing with friends. Even family has to understand that you can't just drop what you are doing and go hang out. Not many people will stick around because you have priorities, which is your work, so you might find yourself striving without a support system, It happens. Focus on you and your future. We all want someone to lean on or friends to be there for you, but now a days in society, if you don't go out and party then you are weird and not worth being associated with. Lame, I know. Oh well.

Multiple Avenues
With any business, especially in the very beginning of development, you can't rely on one single source of income. You must venture toward multiple avenues of business, but each avenue needs to tie into whatever field or audience that they target. For instance, most trainers or coaches venture into supplement lines, apparel, online content, etc. They don't ONLY train one on one. Now, I know some people that is all they do, but going back to endless ambition, you don't want to just sit back and be happy with 5 face to face clients and that's it. Same in any industry or profession.

Lose the Ego
Many times, we hold egos that sometimes we may not even be aware of. You have to understand and realize that there is always someone more wise, more experienced, and more powerful in your field of work. You have to be able to drop your ego at the door and learn from others. Realize that you can always gain from listening to the minds of others. Make a point to not block out what doesn't come yourself.

Building up a network
Partners in crime are important. And no, I don't mean partners in which you actually go participate in criminal acts with. If I didn't say that, I'm pretty sure ya'll might take that too literal. Anyways, you need a network of individuals who share the same vision, and build each other up. You need a group of like minded entrepreneurs that are ambitious and strive to help the team become successful. No one ever made it in this world by building themselves up and knocking everyone else down. That's not how this works. You need to expand your horizon by networking with other individuals in the industry, begin collaborating and sharing ideas, or even team up and build up affiliating businesses.

A Step Ahead
Always be planning out your next 5 moves. My two cents, is to never be on your last planned out move in that specific moment. You should never be in a situation where you have to sit and think and be like, “Shit, what's next?” Never in your life should you have to reevaluate if there is a dead end to your business. Always move forward, but know exactly in which direction you are going. If you are on your last thought out move, you are already far behind your competition. End of story.

Stop Sleeping
No, I don't literally mean don't go to bed at night. When I say stop sleeping, I mean to open you eyes and stop moving through life without purpose and drive. “Every one dies, but not every one lives.” We spend most of our life just going through the motions and not exploring what it means to find out true purpose and chasing after our ambitions and aspirations. Stop sleeping, and start living.

Customer Service
Start making your customers an agenda, and just watch how fast your relations and business grows throughout the years. Stop focusing so hard on what you can get in return, and give all you have toward providing your audience with true value. Stop charging you customers or audience for every bit of dang information they ask for. Go the extra mile to make sure every participant, audience member, or customer knows you would do anything you can to make sure they are satisfied with your work. Granted, you are a business, so certain services require hire and payment, but not every freaking move or relay of info needs a price tag on it.
